Dreaming Of Neeming
(Also called Pseudomonas In The Sinus)
It so happened when we returned from the farm
The pus had increased to a level of alarm
Betadine
As useless as wine
Antibiotics
Just causing chaotics
Doctors dumbfounded
Confusion abounded
If their teachers could hear their logics now
They surely to compounders would be compounded
A culture of cells
Rung warning bells
And said the bacteria
So very persistent
To almost all anti's
Was strongly resistant
Only a handful of -amines and -sporins
Held any hope of doing the curins
The surgeon whose mind always saw knives
Said let's cut again to see why it thrives
And then put a mesh for the sinus to mend
So the putrifac to mouth will not descend
The dentist said oh none of these are edible
The only antibiotics are all injectible
I dithered and tarried and vacillated
For my sinus to cure I fervently waited
When home at the farm hope had seemed to ebb
And I had tired of searching the world wide web
I had sent young Dinesh up into a tree
And asked him to throw down some Neem leaves at me
Now Dinesh is a man with a big heart and soul
And he threw at me two branches whole
These came to Punjab in the boot of the car
And I ate 5 leaves after each day and an hour
And every night I remembered the promise of magic
Made for haldi doodh by all docs Vaidic
The dentist was waiting to hold my arm steady
To put a cannula in a vein made ready
For a long spell of antibiotic injections
The surgeon got out his favourite cutters
Ignoring my pleas and hapless mutters
I got an appointment in a day and a half
To go to the slaughter like the fatted calf
As part of every night's routine
I picked up a bottle of Betadine
Six months I've done in it
There's no fun in it
The bacteriye ain't dyin'
But we gotta keep tryin'
Drill them
Grill them
With injectables
Kill them
I held up the bottle but felt a bit low
To more of Betadine my heart said no
I didn't want go under the surgeon's knife
That's what I told my darling wife
And neither did I want
On couch to lie
With injection flowing
And side effects growing
Just then I spies with my little eyes
A bottle of Listerine as she lies
Shining blue like the Nainital skies
Aaja aaja I said to her
And gargled with a lot of ger ger
To my morning surprise
When I open my eyes
Not much pus on the cotton wad lies
As I take it out of its place in my gums
My brow is knitted and I emit some humms
Could Listerine
Have gone and deen
What was too much
For Betadine
I postpone the surgectory
And dodge the injectory
And go very carefully over the last month's trajectory
For a day I believe
Mouthwash brought reprieve
Then Google complicates things again
Pseudomanas with Listerine cannot be slain
The septic seems to retreat again
And I cross fingers as I pick Google's brain
What effect does Neem have on this bacteria
And what about its yellow friend turmeria
Ah says Guggloo
They both kill this guy
Even modern science does not deny
So that is where we are at now
Haldi in warm milk of cow
And eating the leaves of the neem so bitter
And boiling them to make mouthwash hard hitter
I think I'll be cured in a few more days
And will listen more to what old wisdom says
Tamaam
Shudh
The end
